The Enterprise Uzbekistan team has concluded a working visit to Singapore, during which it held a series of meetings with representatives of the country’s technology, investment, and legal communities. The discussions focused on cloud infrastructure, venture capital, business support mechanisms, legal architecture, and international market access. The meetings once again demonstrated the growing international interest in Enterprise Uzbekistan as a dedicated technology jurisdiction.
Enterprise Singapore: A Mature Model for Business Support
Enterprise Singapore is one of the world’s leading government agencies for enterprise development. Over the years, it has built an effective system to support companies in expanding internationally through trade missions, B2B matchmaking, industry-specific programs, and comprehensive export assistance.
The Enterprise Uzbekistan team met with representatives of Enterprise Singapore to exchange experience in business support, export development, and innovation. The discussions covered mechanisms for supporting companies at different stages of growth and explored practical areas of cooperation between the two organizations, including joint business missions and B2B engagement initiatives.
Alibaba Cloud: The Legal Environment as a Key Factor
For global cloud service providers, the question of where data is stored extends far beyond technical considerations. It is closely tied to legal regulation, compliance requirements, and the overall credibility of the jurisdiction.
Accordingly, the meeting between Enterprise Uzbekistan and Alibaba Cloud focused on data localization, cross-border data flows, and the legal framework required to support international technology companies.
Enterprise Uzbekistan offers a special legal regime based on elements of English and Welsh law, to the extent that they do not contradict the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, together with a legal stability regime guaranteed until 2100. This model has been designed specifically to meet the needs of global technology companies such as Alibaba Cloud, and the discussions confirmed that the framework is well understood and positively received by international market participants.
Tencent Cloud: Cloud Infrastructure, Artificial Intelligence, and Access to ASEAN Markets
Tencent Cloud is one of the region’s leading providers of cloud services, AI infrastructure, and one of the world’s largest game development ecosystems.
During the meeting, the parties explored opportunities for cooperation across these areas, while also discussing Singapore’s role as a gateway for Uzbek technology companies seeking to enter ASEAN markets.
For technology companies from Uzbekistan, Southeast Asia represents an attractive market due to its scale and advanced level of digital development. However, successful market entry requires reliable local partners and well-developed infrastructure. Tencent Cloud’s regional network could serve as an effective platform for achieving these objectives.
Singapore’s Venture Ecosystem: New Opportunities for Uzbek Startups
The delegation also met with representatives of Singapore’s venture capital ecosystem.
The discussions focused on international market access programs, mentorship formats, B2B engagement, and participation in SWITCH, one of Asia’s largest startup and technology conferences.
Over many years, Singapore has developed an effective ecosystem that connects startups directly with global investors. The meeting explored practical mechanisms that would enable Uzbek startups to gain direct access to this ecosystem.
JWS Law Firm: A Legal Model That Meets International Standards
Entering any new jurisdiction inevitably begins with legal due diligence.
With this in mind, the Enterprise Uzbekistan team met with JWS Law Firm, a Singapore-based legal practice with extensive experience in cross-border commercial projects.
The firm's experts reviewed Enterprise Uzbekistan’s legal architecture in detail, including its framework based on elements of English and Welsh Common Law, its independent judicial and arbitration infrastructure, and the legal protections available to international investors and companies.
Following the discussions, JWS Law Firm representatives noted that Enterprise Uzbekistan’s legal model is well structured, transparent, and fully understandable to legal practitioners experienced in Common Law jurisdictions.
