IT Park Uzbekistan and Japanese company Digital Knowledge Co., Ltd. discussed new areas of cooperation, including attracting Japanese technology companies and investments to Uzbekistan, supporting Uzbek startups entering the Japanese market, and developing a skilled IT workforce.
The meeting brought together Abdulahad Kuchkarov, Advisor to the CEO of IT Park Uzbekistan, and Hiroaki Haga, Founder and CEO of Digital Knowledge Co., Ltd. The discussions built on ongoing efforts to strengthen business and educational ties between Uzbekistan and Japan.
Digital Knowledge specializes in e-learning, digital education, and IT talent development. A key milestone in the partnership was the opening of IT Park Uzbekistan’s representative office in Tokyo on 12 May 2025, hosted at Digital Knowledge’s premises.
The representative office promotes Uzbekistan’s technology ecosystem, facilitates business connections, and supports Japanese companies interested in entering the Uzbek market.
In 2026, IT Park Uzbekistan organized seminars and information sessions for Japanese businesses through its Tokyo representative office, introducing participants to Uzbekistan’s IT ecosystem, investment opportunities, business environment, and advantages of establishing operations in the country.
During the meeting, the parties identified three priority areas for further collaboration:
Attracting Japanese IT companies to Uzbekistan. The parties outlined their goal of attracting Japanese companies and facilitating their entry into the local market.
Supporting Uzbek startups entering Japan. The cooperation aims to create new opportunities for international expansion, business networking, and identifying potential partners.
Attracting major investment projects. Particular attention was given to opportunities for Japanese investment in strategic technology sectors, including data centers and robotics.
Another focus of the meeting was the development of Japan Digital University (JDU) in Tashkent, established by Digital Knowledge in December 2020. The university now has more than 700 students, reflecting the growing educational cooperation between the two countries.
The parties also discussed increasing the number of Japanese-speaking professionals in Uzbekistan and creating new employment opportunities for them by attracting Japanese companies. In particular, they explored workforce development programs aligned with the needs of the Japanese market, including practice-oriented training, professional skills development, and Japanese language education.
Moving forward, cooperation between IT Park Uzbekistan and Digital Knowledge will focus on expanding the presence of Japanese technology businesses in Uzbekistan, supporting the international growth of Uzbek startups, and developing a skilled workforce for joint projects.
