IT Park Uzbekistan and Sturgeon Capital Discuss Strengthening Partnership in Venture Investments

Representatives of IT Park Uzbekistan, Enterprise Uzbekistan, and IT Park Ventures, led by CEO Azamat Karamatov, held a meeting with the team of the UK-based venture capital fund Sturgeon Capital, including CEO Kiyan Zandieh and Partner Robin Butler. During the discussions, the parties explored opportunities to strengthen their investment partnership, further develop Uzbekistan’s venture ecosystem, and create new avenues for supporting technology startups.

Particular attention was given to attracting international capital to Uzbekistan’s rapidly growing technology companies. The parties discussed the prospects of co-investing in projects focused on artificial intelligence, fintech, SaaS solutions, digital infrastructure, and other high-tech sectors.

During the meeting, representatives of IT Park Ventures presented their approaches to developing the country’s venture capital market, supporting startups at various stages of growth, and implementing initiatives aimed at increasing the investment attractiveness of Uzbekistan’s technology sector.

Sturgeon Capital’s leadership positively highlighted the dynamic development of Uzbekistan’s startup and venture ecosystem, as well as the growing interest of international investors in technology projects across Central Asia. The company also expressed its interest in further exploring the country’s investment potential and expanding engagement with local startups, entrepreneurs, and innovation ecosystem stakeholders.

The parties also discussed prospects for further cooperation in developing the venture ecosystem. Particular attention was paid to opportunities for exchanging international expertise with Sturgeon Capital, including approaches to identifying promising startups, conducting investment analysis and due diligence, managing investment portfolios, and supporting the growth and development of portfolio companies. In addition, the parties explored opportunities to expand partnership networks and assess potential collaboration formats that could contribute to supporting innovative companies across the region.

During the meeting, the activities of Enterprise Uzbekistan were also presented, highlighting its role in creating favorable conditions for attracting international investors, technology companies, and strategic partners, as well as expanding opportunities for implementing innovative projects in Uzbekistan.

In this context, the parties discussed opportunities to study Sturgeon Capital’s international experience and apply best practices in Uzbekistan, including potential improvements to the regulatory environment for venture capital investments.

Following the meeting, both sides confirmed their readiness to begin working on future areas of cooperation, including attracting international investment, supporting innovative projects, and fostering a sustainable venture capital ecosystem in Uzbekistan.

Expanding cooperation with Sturgeon Capital will create additional opportunities for financing technology companies, strengthen the integration of Uzbek startups into the international investment community, and contribute to the continued development of the country’s innovation-driven economy.
